Where are we ?

Bockleton
Bockleton Court
The house was originally Bockleton Court and is now a Birmingham Education Department field study centre. It was built in 1865 for the Prescott family, merchant bankers originally from Roehampton, near London.

The former Bockleton Court, a Victorian country house, is now a listed building. Although the original furniture has long since been removed, many Victorian features remain even now. The site was purchased by the City of Birmingham in 1950 and initially used as a Camp School, introducing city children to the countryside. Its role has gradually evolved and changed over the past five decades.

The Centre is situated in approximately 10 hectares of mixed woodland and standing water in a very rural location, some 8km. from the nearest small market town, Tenbury Wells. Bockleton Parish consists of a few scattered houses and farms with a small church and village hall. It is important to note that there is no Post Office or village shop.
